The hippotherapy department was launched according to the pilot project in October 2023.
A regulation was developed, approved by the sports department and the management of the complex, which provides for the rules for providing medical rehabilitation using hippotherapy, including: forming a list of children with special needs according to indications and contraindications, systematization of work, the procedure for providing services in accordance with the time, schedule and keeping records of children who have undergone treatment.
To study international experience in the rehabilitation of children with special needs using hippotherapy, employees of the State Budgetary Institution “Argymak” were sent on a business trip to Moscow, Russian Federation, where they received theoretical and practical skills in providing these rehabilitation services, with the aim of implementing this work in the conditions of the State Budgetary Institution “Argymak”.
As part of the implementation of the pilot project, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Zhansaya Social Service Centers of the Astana Akimat, which has experience in the field of rehabilitation of children with special needs, and Nurly Zhurek, and groups of potential children with special needs were identified for hippotherapy classes.
A schedule has been drawn up for visiting children with special needs for hippotherapy classes, every Tuesday and Thursday in two shifts.
For each child, a schedule of initial examination is drawn up, an Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP) for hippotherapy and a schedule of visits are developed.
In order to ensure transparency in conducting hippotherapy sessions, a separate platform birge.astana.kz has been created for the operation of our complex.
Since April 1, 2024, based on requests from service recipients, children will be selected for hippotherapy based on indications and contraindications, their physical and mental states, clinical diagnosis and concomitant diseases.
If difficulties with registration arise, the service recipient comes with a package of documents, according to the list, to our complex and registers with a separate employee on site.
Within 10 working days, the service recipient receives a notification via SMS or email with a response to the application.
During the implementation of this project, 72 children with special needs received rehabilitation until 2024, within 3 months, 128 children from January 2024 to the present. Currently, 60 children with special needs are undergoing medical rehabilitation using hippotherapy.
From among the children, 7 children were selected for adaptive sports classes. Additional individual classes and preparation for adaptive sports are conducted with this category of children.
On April 13, 2024, the first regional special olympiad for the Astana Cup was held, where children from the cities of Almaty, Ridder, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Astana took part. They performed according to the division, i.e. according to the level of training of athletes, where the children of our hippodrome received 2-1 place, 4-2 place and the youngest participant-3 place.
On July 19-20, 2024, our athletes took part in the Open Republican Competitions for the Cup of the Equestrian Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan for athletes of the Paralympic and Special Olympic programs, which took place in East Kazakhstan region (Ust-Kamenogorsk). Athletes from East Kazakhstan region, Aktobe, Mangistau, Kyzylorda regions, from Almaty and Astana took part in the competition. Children from our hippodrome took 1st and 2nd place, each in their own direction.
